HUAWEI C5600 – Hangout with the Ultimate Tool Kit (UTK) Review
The HUAWEI C5600 is a feature-rich multimedia smart-phone with OMH CDMA data-service capability as its top selling point. Also, its lifestyle features like sensex updates, sports updates, astrology, dating, infotainment and spiritual zone add value for money. Overall, it is a good buy at Rs. 3,999, if you can overlook its shortcomings.
The C5600 incorporates a floating keypad design, with convenient spacing between the keys. The call function keys and the option select keys are integrated on a pair of crescent moon shaped pads, placed on either side of the central navigation dial. The keypad keys are soft to the touch and are easy on the fingers while typing or navigating the screen.
The C5600 includes a microSD slot on the left side with a flap door mechanism, and the volume control buttons, camera shutter button and an USB port are located on the right. The battery cover has a sliding door mechanism and latches on tightly into the grooved structures on either side of the back-panel. There is a 2 Mega-Pixel camera located just above the battery compartment, with a scratch-proof sticker on the lens. The camera lens is stylishly decorated with a golden ring encircling it. There are three indented holes representing the built-in speakers, just above the camera lens on the back-panel.
[RELATED_ARTICLE]The menu interface is simple and well-organized. The cellphone bundles with a rich assortment of useful applications like: the mobile browser, TATA zone and UTK (Ultimate Tool Kit). The mobile browser application includes intuitive features like bookmarks, saved pages, history and push messages. It allows the user to surf web-pages, monitor the latest sensex updates and also use the Google Search engine. The most interesting aspect of the sensex updates is the sensex ticker, which gives individual stock updates with their current market price in alphabetical order. The TATA zone application allows the user to shop mobile multimedia content online like: games, ringtones, wallpapers, Bollywood zone etc. Finally, the UTK or the revolutionary Ultimate Tool Kit, allows the user to get things done at his fingertips, that were previously unheard of on 2G mobiles. The user can also choose to entertain himself with the wide array of services like: winning prizes in contests or quiz, news, cricket, fun zone, subscription services, infotainment – flight status, PNR status, city guide and TV guide, dating, spiritual zone, astrology and more. With all due credit, the C5600 truly stamps the class and authority of OMH CDMA mobiles with a hint of lifestyle features in it.

Performance
The C5600 delivered consistent signal reception and voice clarity in zone one. However, we observed a considerable drop in voice clarity, when we subjected the cellphone to environmental background noise across both the zones two and three. The device ear piece volume felt loud and clear. However, the hands-free voice audibility felt feeble at medium volumes and we often had to increase the call volume. We were quite disappointed to find the loudspeaker option concealed in the form of a small icon during the call and hence we had to search around before we realized it. The C5600 had a modest outing in the Bluetooth test with a score of 312kbps, while it delivered a mediocre performance in the captured video quality test. There were visible patches of pixelated artefacts and grainy particles in the captured video test. Also, the captured photos were just average in terms of crispness, image clarity and colour depth. Although, the viewing angle of the display was good, the images on the screen looked blurry and unrecognisable under bright sunlight. Overall, the C5600 revealed itself to be an average performer that just gets the job done.
Conclusion
The HUAWEI C5600 is a feature-rich multimedia smart-phone, with OMH CDMA data-service capability being its top selling point. Also, its lifestyle features like sensex updates, sports updates, astrology, dating, infotainment and spiritual zone add value for money. Overall, it is a good buy at Rs. 3,999, if you can overlook its shortcomings with the camera and loudspeaker. We’d recommend it if you are looking for a OMH CDMA lifestyle cellphone, overlooking the need for a camera.
