The Transcend StoreJet 35U3 is an easy storage solution for your external HDD. It looks good, has a 80mm cooling fan and supports USB 3.0 as well as USB 2.0 and this particular model comes with a 3TB drive included which itself costs Rs. 6,700 so at a price of Rs. 8,999 for the whole package, it’s a pretty good deal.
We measured the performance hit between connecting a hard drive directly on a SATA III port and through the Storejet 35U3. Synthetic tests didn’t experience a considerable drop in performance but it fell by up to 45-50% in the real world tests which involve transferring sample files that involve a mix of incompressible and compressible data of varying queue depths.
There was a temperature difference of up to 18% while copying a large number of files. The case doesn’t have any padding inside to protect the hard drive if you happen to drop it. The StoreJet comes with Transcend Elite data management software and the EcoFanControl utility that lets you change preset profiles for your cooling fan. This particular model comes with a 3TB drive included which itself costs Rs. 6,700 so at a price of Rs. 8,999 for the whole package, it’s a pretty good deal.
