With just one day remaining in 2014, the controversial Micromax Yu Yureka is going to go on sale very soon. Our review will be live soon enough, but if you're one of the impatient ones, here's a quick review of the device. We'll also address the elephant in the room and compare it to the OnePlus One.
The elephant in the room..
Let's start with the elephant in the room shall we. How does the Yu Yureka match up against the OnePlus One? Well, the display is visibly inferior, which was expected, considering that the One has a 1080p display against the Yureka's 720p.
The Yureka's display isn't bad, but there are better ones out there, even in the below 10k price range.
All about that base..
The Sandstone and Moonstone finish on the back of these two devices may easily look the same, but the One feels much more premium than the Yureka. That said, the Yureka still has a very nice, albeit plasticky feel to it, considering its price tag. The fact that the Yureka has a removable battery is a big plus point though.
The CM conundrum..
We're still trying to figure out how CyanogenMod 11 on the Yureka is any different from CM 11S running on the OnePlus One. In the initial few hours of usage, we haven't seen any difference in the two ROMs, except of course in the themes department.
The power struggle..
While both the devices offer top class performance for their respective price brackets, the OnePlus One is a far more powerful device than the Yu Yureka. Well, on benchmarks at least. The Yureka hasn't been a slouch, but the Snapdragon 801 is a more powerful SoC than the Snapdragon 615.
Click clickety click click..
One department where the Yureka seems to be beating the OnePlus One though is the camera. On initial testing, the 13MP shooter on the Yureka took better shots than the OnePlus One. This is even more impressive when you consider the price of the Yureka.
Camera Sample..
While this image isn't the original that was clicked, it should still tell you that the white balance of the camera isn't bad at all. It is more than a worthy rival to the Xiaomi Redmi Note, if not better.

Another Camera Sample..
There is a slight unversaturation in the images taken by the Yureka. This is something that we had noticed in the OnePlus One as well, but the Yureka doesn't undersaturate images as much as the One. The issue could very well be in the camera algorithm used by CyanogenMod though.
