Yu Televentures launched its second phone, the Yu Yuphoria earlier today. The phone brings a few features which are fairly new to the budget smartphone segment. Since we have the phone with us, lets take a quick look at what it is all about.
Let's start with the front; the smartphone has a 5-inch 720p IPS display.
The IPS panel looks good for the price but has a warmer colour palette.
The display also gets Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The device runs on Cyanogen CM12 which is based on Android Lollipop.
This is the first phone in its category to feature a metal band all around.
At the back, the phone features a matte plastic back which has a nice feel to it.
At the bottom, the phone houses its speaker underneath its speaker grill.
At the back an 8MP camera sits inside a metal ring with a single LED in the ring itself
Firing up the camera, we can see the clean interface of Cyanogen’s camera app
The back is removable and houses a 2300mAh removable battery.
The dual-SIM slots as well as the microSD card slot are visible on the back.
We did some quick synthetic benchmarks, check out the score for Antutu.
And this is the score achieved by the Yu Yuphoria in 3DMark Unlimited
Check out how the phone compares to the Moto E (2nd gen) (extreme left) and the Lenovo A6000 Plus (extreme right) in size.
Overall, the Yu Yuphoria looks to be a respectable competitor in the budget segment, but how well does it stack up against the competition? You'll have to wait for our full review for that answer.
