Yu recently launched its ‘flagship’ smartphone for 2016, the Yu Yunicorn. It is priced at Rs. 12,999, or rather 13,499, as the former price is just for the first month. As we started reviewing the phone, we decided to pit it against some of its prime competitors in the price bracket. Hence, the Yu Yunicorn goes up against Samsung’s Galaxy J5, Meizu’s latest budget entrant m3 Note, and the commendable Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, across benchmarks and other tests. Here’s how it fares.

Our review unit is a Chinese variant of the smartphone with an International ROM on it. It is the 2GB RAM variant, along with 16GB of storage. The Indian variant of the smartphone has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
