The consumer focus in the smartphone segment has shifted towards smaller devices, but phablets have still not lost their charm. A lot of people prefer their smartphone to have a big screen, upwards of 5.5 inch. If you're one of those people, then here's a list of phablets for all price ranges.
Nokia Lumia 1320
If you want a phablet that runs on the Windows OS and also comes within a Rs. 20k budget, then the Lumia 1320 is your only option. It has a 6 inch screen and was among the first two phablets from Nokia.
Originally launched at around Rs. 19,000, this phablet didn't make for a very good buy then. But now the price has dropped and it may be a good choice for 5.5 inch large smartphone lovers. It has an octa-core processor and performs quite well.
Asus Zenfone 6
The Zenfone 6 is the biggest of Asus' Zenfone series of smartphones and it is a good device to buy if a big screen and budget both matter to you. It runs on an Intel dual-core SoC and gives satisfactory performance.
Sony Xperia Z Ultra
Falling just short of the tablet category, the Xperia Z Ultra is a great device to own if you love large screen devices. It has slim design, a 6.4-inch display and is also expected to get the latest Android Lollipop update.
If you have a budget over Rs. 20,000 and love clicking selfies, then this is the smartphone that you should go for. It has a big screen and is the best selfie phablet in the market.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo
The younger brother of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, this device has toned down specs, but retains the big screen. It is an option you can consider if you have your heart set on a phablet above Rs. 20k.
The device replaces the Desire 816 with slight change in design and an upgraded 64-bit Snapdragon chipset. A great looking device if you want phablet around the 25k range.
Sony Xperia T3
Sony had tried a big screen on its Xperia Z and Xperia Z1 smartphones, but the company seems to have dropped that now. Still, Sony is in no way done with phablets and has the Xperia T3 to offer in India. It is a very good choice if a phablet is what you want. It is also an updated version of the Xperia T2 Ultra.
This is the full powered version of the Lumia 1320 mentioned above. It also costs much more than the 1320. It is one of the best Windows devices that you can buy and possibly the best choice for a Windows phablet.
LG has made some good smartphones in the recent few years and the G Pro 2 is one of the best. If you have the budget, then this is possibly the best phablet in this range.
Lenovo's latest flagship also joins the phablet category and comes with 6-inch QHD display and a great looking design thanks to its metal body. It is also a powerful device as it rocks a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz accompanied by 3GB of RAM and a 4000mAH battery.
Nexus 6
The latest Nexus device is now a phablet and while a number of people are complaining about the large size, phablet lovers just cant get enough of the device. Designed by Motorola, the brand new Nexus 6 comes with 5.9-inch 2K display and a fast Snapdragon 805 SoC.
This is the best Android flagship that you can buy today. Even though the device has a 5.5 inch display, it is smaller than many 5 inch smartphones. It is perhaps the best phablet in the market right now.
The new BlackBerry Passport is weird to hold and look at and it is very surprisingly high priced. But that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a very good smartphone from BlackBerry. If you have the budget and don't mind being a BB users then go right ahead!
The latest phablet from Samsung proves yet again that the company can make some of the most powerful handsets. Apart from the latest high-end hardware it has a gorgeous display and a new metal frame bringing in a change in design.
Apple iPhone 6 Plus
We never thought there would be a day when Apple would be part of a phablet list. In fact, this is perhaps the first time such a list includes Android, iOS and Windows. The iPhone 6 Plus has received good early reviews, but we'll hold off further comments till we get it in our hand. Till then, Apple fans have an option.
