The highlight of this year's Comic Con in Mumbai might be the visit of Mark Gatiss, co-creator and executive producer of the worldwide popular series Sherlock. He is also the writer for the modern television revival of Doctor Who.
Mark was present throughout the three days of the convention. A special screening of An Adventure in Space and Time had been organised to mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. A special panel and fan session was scheduled where fans got to interact with him. Mark is pictured here in an autograph session that was held everyday for a limited number of people.
Fans could be seen here eagerly waiting for Mark for his special fan session where he would be interacting with them. The volunteers of the convention had a difficult time keeping the overly excited audience contained who were almost ready to kill to get to the front.
Mayank Shekhar, popular film critic, played host to the panel discussion with Mark, asking him about Sherlock, Doctor Who and about his new role in Game of Thrones. A few anecdotes were also shared and he was firm on Benedict Cumberbatch being the first and only choice for the role of Sherlock. News of Tom Hiddleston starring in the fourth season was denied, and he explained how the rumours had developed.
The interaction between Mark and his fans was highly quirky, most of the questions directed towards spoilers for the upcoming season of Sherlock. Through the interaction, Mark would have thought he was a One Direction member, given the incessant fangirling and screams thrown at him throughout the session.
Fans couldn't get much of Mark, though he addressed to a lot of questions from his beloved followers. Right from kids to adults, they had a question for him. Mark expressed his interest of shooting in India for a historical event in Doctor Who but shared nothing further on the subject.
The whole session was quite fruitful with the questions coming from Mayank, including things going on behind the scenes. He assured everyone that we would be seeing more of him in the next season of Sherlock and also in Game of Thrones. Mark was bombarded with many silly questions from the fans which he dealt with an utter sense of wit, clearly displaying the elegant personality that he is.
