The Samsung Series 5 Ultra Touch has a 13.3-inch capacitive multi-touch display with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD, along with 24GB ExpressCache. The device is fairly light, weighing in at 1.73 kgs.
The grey matte brushed aluminum finish on the Samsung Series 5 Touch doesn’t catch fingerprints, dust and scratches like glossy surfaces do.
The Series 5 Touch Ultrabook's base is slightly curving upwards on three sides, making it feel slimmer than it actually is. The thickness ranges from 0.68-inches to 0.78-inches.
The right side contains the 2 USB 2.0 ports, and an SD card reader slot.
The left side features the Ethernet socket, USB 3.0 port, HDMI port, Mic/Headphone port, and DisplayPort.
The Series 5 Touch Ultrabook's keyboard is very nicely spaced out, and the keys are slightly bigger than what we see on a MacBook, for example. Adequate spacing between the keys is conducive for a quick typing session.
There is a good-sized touchpad, critical for multi-touch gestures to work well. Also an essential element for Windows 8. Separate keys for left and right click are appreciated, and are a lot more comfortable than the integrated keys.
As an ultrabook, the Series 5 Ultra Touch builds on what the previous edition offered, with the added touchscreen for Windows 8.
