This year's Samsung forum took place in Bangkok where the company announced some new consumer electronics products, appliances and more. Here is quick look some of the interesting ones
A range of new curved monitors was showcased which are meant for gaming and everyday use. The new monitor range is equipped with Game Boost technology which optimizes the picture to make gameplay more realistic.
The new range of curved monitors offer a slighter wider aspect ratio of 21:9 with a resolution of 3440x1440, thus giving a wider view which looks and feels great when you are gaming. The contrast ratio also sounds pretty impressive with 3000:1 rating. The colours and brightness of the monitors is actually quite stunning.
Samsung also announced that it will bring a more premium line of TVs with the 'S' branding, called SUHD televisions. The new TV range improves on previous curved LED TVs by including nano-crystal technology and an intelligent SUHD re-mastering picture quality engine.
The SUHD TVs nano-crystal semiconductor transmits different colors of light depending on their size to produce the highest color purity and light efficiency. According to Samsung, this produces a wider range of more accurate colors with 64 times the color expression of conventional TVs.
In the mobile sector, Samsung clearly mentioned that it will go aggressive to bring in 4G based smartphones and announced 4G versions of the Galaxy Grand Prime, Galaxy Core Prime and the Galaxy J1. The company also announced the new Galaxy A7 which is again a 4G enabled flagship smartphone for its new A-series.
In the B2B sector, the company announced and showcased its first ever rugged tablet called the Galaxy Tab Active. The tablet is targeted for enterprise use covering a number of industries.
The tablet comes with a three-pin pogo charging port which makes it easier to charge, a rubberised cover that gives extra protection and it is IP67 certified making it water and dust proof and able to withstand drops of upto 1.2 metes.
The tablet comes with an anti-reflective, 8-inch 1280x800 touchscreen with a brightness of 400 nits and a stylus pen for easier use. It's powered by a Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung's Knox security solution for that extra bit of privacy.
The tablet also comes with a rear 3.15MP rear camera with an inbuilt barcode scanner. The battery pack is rated at 4,450mAH which is said to deliver upto 10 hours of non-stop use and it is replacable. The new Tab Active will only be available for enterprise users, but Samsung said that the tablet could be released general consumption at a later date.
