Acer’s latest addition to its line of convertible notebooks is the 11.6- inch Aspire R 11. Boasting of a unique design for the 360-degree hinge, the notebook can be rotated to four different modes (notebook, pad, display, tent). You will be able to enjoy upto 8 hours of battery life in a single charge.
Packed with an Intel Pentium processor, the Aspire R 11 can have up to 8GB of system memory and up to 1TB of hard drive storage. Running on Windows 8.1, the notebook will support a free upgrade to Windows 10. The Aspire R 11 comes in two colours, sky blue and cloud white. The 11.6-inch HD touchscreen features Zero Air Gap technology that essentially reduces the reflections within the display. The screen also features Corning Gorilla Glass, protecting it from ugly scratches. It also includes Acer’s own TrueHarmony audio technology and Acer BlueLightShield.
Acer’s existing Switch 10 series line is now seeing more 2-in-1 notebooks being added with new 10.1-inch models. The company will also be refreshing its Switch 11 series with new 11.6-inch models. They also support the four modes (notebook, pad, display and tent) giving the users more freedom. Both the series are powered by an Intel Atom quad-core processor and 2GB of system memory. The Precision Touchpad as they call it, supports six gestures and it claims to be capable of detecting accidental contact versus intentional finger gestures. The Switch 10 (SW5-015) again has the Zero Air Gap technology for better display. The 1920x1080 resolution screen is reinforced with Gorilla Glass 3 in the back cover. Both the series are capable of supporting up to 1TB of hard drive storage.
The Switch 10 E lasts for up to 12 hours in a single charge and will be available in six different colours. The HD 12800x800 display features the Acer VisionCare suite that essentially includes Acer BlueLightShield (reducing blue light emission), Acer LumiFlex (optimising display output under sunlight) and Acer Switch Lock (hard drive protection). The Switch 10 E also features the magnetic and latch-less Acer Snap Hinge 2, that makes it easier and faster to snap on the keyboard.
Acer unveiled a new lineup of notebooks at the event. The Aspire V 15 uses Acer’s advanced nano-imprint technology that provides high quality textured metallic finish to the body. It is powered by a 5th Generation Intel Core processor and the NVIDIA GeForce 940M series graphics chips. You will get the option of either a 2TB hard drive for storage or a 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive (SSHD), with 16GB of system memory. It has a backlit keyboard and Dolby Digital Plus sound.
Another new line of notebooks, the Aspire E Series come in many colour options in 14-inch, 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch displays. This series features a different kind of cover, manufactured through 3D scanning of fabric samples which are replicated into moulds with 3D printing technology. The Aspire E Series will be running the latest Intel processors (no specs mentioned) and either the NVIDIA GeForce 940M series graphics or the AMD Radeon R8 and R6 dual graphics. Again, users will have the option of a 2TB hard drive or 1TB SSHD, with 16GB of system memory.
Finally, the newly launched Aspire ES Series features Acer’s FlowCurve design and five screen options between 11.6-inch to 17.3-inches. This series will be versatile and ultra-affordable, running Intel Pentium/Celeron processors, with 8GB of system memory and 1TB of hard drive storage. The Aspire ES series also comes with TrueHarmony, BlueLightShield and the Precision Touchpad.
Acer launched it’s first 15.6-inch Chromebook, boasting a battery life of 11.5 hours. The 1366x768 LED-backlit TFT LCD display features Acer’s ComfyView anti-glare properties to minimize eye strain and fatigue. The CB3-531 model in the Acer Chromebook 15 can withstand up to 60kg of force and the corners can tolerate up to drops from 45cm without damage. This model comes with 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of system memory.
The new Iconia One B1-820 features Acer’s Precision Plus technology that gives a highly accurate touch, sketching and writing experience. Sketching becomes easier with the optional Acer Accurate Stylus or a fine tip 2mm pencil also. The 8-inch 1280x800 tablet is powered by an Intel Atom quad core processor, running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and packing 16GB or 32GB of storage.
Part of the Google Education ecosystem, the Iconia Tab 10 for Education is a 10.1 inch 1920x1200 tablet that has a durable Gorilla Glass 4 display. The screen also has an anti-fingerprint coating that prevents smudges. Again, this tablet too is powered by an Intel Atom quad-core processor, with 2GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage.
Acer announced two new smartphones including the Liquid M220 and the Liquid X2. The Liquid M220 will be the first Liquid smartphone running Windows Phone 8.1 which will be upgraded to Windows 10 at its launch. The 4-inch (480x800) phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB memory and a replaceable 1300mAh battery. The front camera is 2MP while the rear camera is 5MP with autofocus and LED flash. It has a storage capacity of 8GB and will be available in two colours, Mystic Black and Pure White.
The Liquid X2 is a 5.5-inch phone, running on a 64-bit octa-core processor, which packs a huge 4000mAh battery. The phone sports a 3 SIM-card slot and has a 13MP front/rear camera. Not much is known about the specifications of this device for now. It comes with an interesting accessory called the Quick Flip covers, that gives you a quick view into the status or notification of your phone.
Acer also launched its new line of fitness trackers and not just one, but three new wearables. The Liquid Leap Active is the most basic wearable among the three which is just an upgrade to last year’s Leap wearable by the company. The Liquid Leap Fit has a 1-inch touchscreen that measures your heart rate and also reads your skin’s galvanic response using gold-plated sensors, collectively giving you data on your stress levels. Out of the three wearables, the Liquid Leap Curve is the company’s new flagship product that features a curved touchscreen and the same configuration of the Fit. The bands are interchangeable, giving you numerous options to choose from.
