There has been an ongoing upsurge of good smartphones from Chinese smartphone makers, and among them, newly introduced QiKU has launched its Q Terra smartphone. The new device brings remarkable specifications at a very competitive price point, but how well does it fare among its competitors? Here’s taking a closer look at QiKU’s affordable premium smartphone, in detail.
Before we start, here is a quick rundown of the specs:
Display: 6-inch, 1920x1080 pixels

Rear Camera: 13MP+13MP
Front Camera: 8MP

The phone runs on Qihoo 360 UI, masking Android v5.1.1 Lollipop. The UI offers features that were introduced in Android Marshmallow. Take for instance the Doze mode, which directs the smartphone to consume less battery when in idle state, or the App Freezer, which freezes and shuts down apps that are not being used. There is also a very good theme manager on board, which offers quick personalisation of the phone.
The QiKU Q Terra uses a 6-inch IPS display, which renders beautiful colours, with rich saturation and amazing clarity. The black levels on the display are so good that it feels like an AMOLED panel. Offering 386ppi pixel density with 95% saturation level, the display is bright, and the text looks crisp. Sunlight legibility is also quite good, and the display is easily viewable when outdoors.
Right above the display, the phone features a very good 8-megapixel front-facing camera that is capable of taking crisp selfies. You can further enhance your selfies with the in-app beautifying tools.
Even with the large 6-inch display, the phone is quite handy, and fits perfectly in one hand. This is due to the fact that the display has just 1.4mm bezels. This takes the QiKU Q Terra’s screen-to-body ratio to 83%, making it one of the few phones to have such high screen areas.
In addition to the stunning, near bezel-less screen, the phone offers metal unibody build. QiKU says that it is the first company to use high-precision five axis CNC that is blasted on with Zircon sand to give the phone a premium look, and it really shows.
To add to the premium look and feel of the QiKU Q Terra, the edges have been slightly rounded to keep the feel of the phone smooth. The phone is gently curved at the back, giving it better grip than many other smartphones in the market.
The fingerprint sensor on the back is quite accurate and fast. As soon as you place your registered finger, the phone unlocks in 0.5 seconds directly to the home screen, without any hassles
The best feature on the phone, however, is the camera. The phone offers a dual-camera setup which takes outstanding pictures in almost all lighting conditions. There are many camera settings here, which may satisfy photography enthusiasts.
