We are closing in towards the time when Google launches its Nexus smartphones, and the anticipation is building up. This time, Google will be launching two Nexus phones, one manufactured by LG and other by Huawei. Understandably, the rumour mill is full of leaks and speculations. So, we decided to gather them all and bring them together. First up aer the rumours and leaks surrounding the LG-made Nexus 5 (2015), and then move on to Huawei's Nexus 2015.
Note: Images used in the slides are representative and speculative, and the actual devices will almost certainly differ.
LG Nexus 5 (2015):
After making two of the most popular Nexus smartphones, Nexus 4 and 5, this will be LG’s third shot at making a Nexus device. With its track record, we can count on LG to make the devices as good as its previous ones. Rumours suggest that LG is building a compact version of the Nexus, which a little cheaper and offer mid-range specs.
Display:
The LG Nexus 5 (2015) is expected to come with a 5.2-inch Full HD display. There have been rumours that LG’s Nexus would be quite similar to the previous Nexus 5.
Processor:
It is expected to have either Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 or 808 SoC. There is not much clarity here, but most rumours are pointing towards the Snapdragon 808 chipset.
RAM and Storage:
Rumours suggest that the LG Nexus 5 (2015) will have 4GB of RAM. A 3GB RAM-powered Nexus is also possible, while internal storage is expected to be of 64GB.
Camera and Fingerprint Sensor:
It is expected to feature a 13MP rear shooter and a 4MP front shooter. The image shown on the left was posted by YouTuber MKBHD. The image shows a dual-LED flash, and a fingerprint sensor beneath the camera.
Build:
The smartphone is expected to have a metal build. However, it is not clear whether it will be a full metal body, or just have metal frames. It has also been rumoured to have dimensions of 146.9x72.9x8/9.8mm.
Battery:
The battery of the LG Nexus 5 (2015) is rumoured to be either 2700mAh or 3180mAh, with most rumours tipping it for a 3180mAh cell.
Other Features and Launch Date:
It is also expected to have front-facing speakers, USB Type-C port and QuickCharge 2.0. Since Nexus devices are known to launch with the latest Android version, you can count on it to come with Android M. As for a possible launch date, there are none as such, but looking at previous trends, it can be expected some time around October or November.
Huawei Nexus 2015:
This is Huawei’s first shot at making a Nexus device. It is expected to be a premium device with high-end specs, and will possibly be more expensive than the LG Nexus.
Display:
The Huawei Nexus 2015 is expected to have a 5.7-inch screen with 2560x1440px resolution. It is the same resolution seen in Motorola Nexus 6's display, but the slightly smaller display should have a higher pixel density.
Processor:
Rumours suggest a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC powering the 'more premium' Nexus. There have been suggestions of the Snapdragon 820 powering it, but Qualcomm's announcement of the 820 being due in 2016 definitely rules that out.
RAM and Storage:
Both the Nexus smartphones are expected to have 3GB/4GB of RAM. There have, however, been no talks of the amount of internal storage Huawei's one might have.
Camera:
No word on the front camera, although the primary camera is expected to feature a 21-megapixel top-draw image sensor.
Build:
Yet again, a metal build is expected, with dimensions of 159.4 x 78.3 x 6.6/8.5mm.
Battery:
All rumours and leaks so far have stated a possible 3500mAh battery pack for the Huawei-made Nexus 2015.
Other Features and Launch Date:
Ditto as the LG Nexus 5 (2015) - USB Type-C Port, fingerprint scanner, front-firing speakers, and a joint launch of both the Nexus devices.
