Smartphone displays are brittle and they break easily. Despite all the effort that Corning has put in over the year, one fall is often enough for your smartphone’s display to break. Hence, the Moto X Force, which has just been launched in India, would be intriguing to most of us. It’s shatterproof display is worth noting and though it is pricy, it can’t be ignored.
The Moto X Force costs Rs. 49,999 (32GB) and will sell on Flipkart, Amazon, Croma Retail and Spice Retail, from February 8 onwards. Before we begin, here’s a quick roundup of the specifications.
SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810
RAM: 3GB
Storage: 32/64GB
Display: 5.4-inch, 1440p
Camera: 21MP, 5MP
Battery: 3760mAh
While the shatterproof display measures 5.4 inch, the Moto X Force has a 5.9 inch overall frame. It carries a trademark Motorola design and a QHD resolution.
Unlike many Motorola phones, the bezels on this one are quite big, which may be a conscious decision, so as to make the screen sturdier.
The phone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, along with all other Motorola features, like Active Display, Moto Voice etc. We would have wished for Marshmallow though, but Motorola can be trusted for a speedy update.
If you’ve seen the Moto X (2nd Gen) or Moto X Style before, then this phone’s form factor and design won’t surprise you. It carries the same metal frame along with a textured back that many really like. We really wish Motorola would embrace the full metal design soon, though.
The phone carries a 21MP camera on the back and going by recent phones from Motorola, like the Moto X Play and Style, we expect a good camera again. The company has been focusing on its camera recently and has taken tips from parent firm Lenovo to improve image quality.
Unlike the traditional Motorola design, the curve on the Moto X Force’s back isn’t as apparent. The phone is flatter, with slight arches on either side. It doesn’t affect the ergonomics though.
We will be reviewing the Moto X Force very soon, so watch this space for that.
