Lenovo recently announced two new smartphones, with the ZUK Z2 and ZUK Z2 Pro in China. The phones were showcased at MWC China, and is expected to be launched in India later. Here’s taking a look at the two devices, from various angles.
Let’s start with the Lenovo ZUK Z2 Pro. Lenovo has plans to bring it to India, but there is no specified time frame for it. Here's taking a look at the specifications:
Display: 5.2-inch
SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820
RAM: 4GB/6GB
Storage: 64GB 128GB
Camera: 13MP, 8MP
Battery: 3100mAh
OS: Android 6.0.1
The device features a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass on the top. There is an 8MP camera at the front with f/2.0 aperture lens, which can shoot videos in 1080p.
At 7.5mm, the ZUK Z2 Pro is reasonably slim. The smartphone features an all-glass and metal build, with the volume rocker and power key on the right side. The SIM card tray resides on the left side.
While the ZUK Z1, which is sold in India, runs on Cyanogen OS 12, the ZUK Z2 and Z2 Pro we saw in China were running on ZUI 2.0, layered on top of Android 6.0.1.
The design of the ZUK Z2 Pro looks quite similar to the Lenovo Vibe S1 which was launched last year.
The ZUK Z2 Pro features a 13MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture lens. It supports phase detection autofocus, and features a dual-tone LED flash.
This is the Lenovo ZUK Z2. Unlike the ZUK Z2 Pro, it has a plastic build. However, the specifications are quite good:
Display: 5-inch
SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 64GB
Camera: 13MP, 8MP
Battery: 3500mAh
OS: Android 6.0.1
While the ZUK Z2 Pro uses an AMOLED display, the ZUK Z2 features an LTPS LCD display. The colour accuracy seems decent on initial impressions, although brightness levels seem inadequate.
Both the ZUK Z2 and Z2 Pro feature fingerprint scanners on the front. These phones are expected to go up against the Xiaomi Mi 5, OnePlus 3 and the LeEco Le Max 2, once they are launched in India.
