In a grand event in the U.S. last evening, LeEco announced its next flagship smartphone, the LePro 3. The $399 phone brings a very powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 to the table. Prior to this, the Snapdragon 821 was seen in a few phones, including the recently announced Google Pixel. There are no details whether the phone will be launched in India as of yet, but since India is a big market for the company, we expect to see the phone soon enough.
Let’s begin with the specifications, at $399 (Rs. 26,640 approximately) the phone features quite a resume
Display: 5.5-inch, 1080p
SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 821
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 64GB
Camera: 16MP, 8MP
Battery: 4070mAh
Like the Le 2 and the Le Max 2, the Le Pro 3 also has a good display with good colours and viewing angles. However, it is still dim and the Gorilla Glass makes it slightly reflective.
The design of the phone is quite similar to the Le 2 and the Le Max 2, with 2.5D curved glass at front, chamfered edges and USB Type-C at the bottom. Although, the back gets a brushed metal look, instead of the sandblasted look on the Le 2.
The proportions of the phone are quite similar to the Le 2 as both phones are just 7.5mm thick. However, the Le Pro 3 now holds a larger 4070mAh battery.
This is the Explore VR for LeEco phones. Instead of using the standard Google cardboard algorithm, LeEco is using Qualcomm’s VR SDK for this.
Besides the two smartphones and the VR headset, LeEco also showcased its prototype self-driving car called the LeSEE Pro. it’s an all electric car and will be going up against Tesla cars, which currently rule the electric car market.
The car sports a very futuristic design. When the car is put in autonomous mode, the steering wheel retracts back and the driver can sit back and enjoy a movie.
The car looks beautiful from all angles but it is currently still a concept and the production model may not have the futuristic looking wheels or the rear view cameras. You can check out our video here
The car will support magnetic charging when it goes into production. Also, keep an eye out as the Le SEE Pro will make its cinema debut in Michael Bay’s upcoming Transformers movie.
