While the Microsoft Surface 3 is not officially available here in India, we were still able to get our hands on the latest Surface tablet. Here is a quick look.
The Surface runs on Windows 8.1. Here is the desktop mode.
The whole tablet has a polycarbonate build which looks every bit premium as Apple’s aluminium clad iPad.
The tablet features a stereo speaker setup with speakers placed on either side of the display.
The Surface 3 has a 10.8-inch display which has a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. The display is sharp and very responsive.
The Microsoft Surface 3 runs on a 7-series quad-core Intel Atom processorclocked at 1.6GHz. There is 4GB of RAM and the one we are showcasing here has 128GB storage.
The onboard keyboard is nice and easy to use. We couldn’t get the magnetic keyboard cover and this will have to do for now.
The top left has the power and volume rocker keys which are responsive and offer good travel.
The right edge of the display features all the I/O ports: headphones jack, microUSB port for charging, USB 3.0, and a mini display port.
At the rear there is a kickstand which opens up in three different positions.
This is the first position.
This is the second position.
And this is the third position, for laid back usage.
These three positions you saw in the earlier slides are kept in place by this hinge at the back.
There is an 8MP camera at the back. At the front there is a 3.5MP front-facing camera as well.
At the bottom, there is the magnetic dock for the magnetic keyboard cover we mentioned earlier.
