The Honor 6 Plus was a very good camera phone and went on to demolish the iPhone 6’s camera in our comparison test. This time around though, Honor has made a very unique camera phone in the form of the Honor 7i. It takes the idea of a rotating camera module on the Oppo N1 and builds upon it.
Before we start here is a quick-look at the spec sheet: SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 RAM: 2/3GB Display: 5.2-inch 1080p Storage: 16/32GB Camera: 13MP Sony sensor on a rotating mount Battery: 3000mAh
The 13MP camera on the phone is back illuminated and has a F2.0 large aperture. It has a 28mm wide-angle lens and is covered in Sapphire crystal.
The camera module can swivel a 180 degrees. Somewhat similar to the Oppo N1.
The left edge has a fingerprint sensor which, apart from handling security, can also be used to click pictures
The phone has a full metal frame which Honor claims provide aircraft-grade strength. Honor states that the entire phone uses various rigorous processes to make it more robust
Besides this, the rest of the phone looks quite similar to previous Honor phones, like Honor 7, that was launched in China earlier this year.
However, an important aspect about the phone that got us excited is the new Snapdragon 616 SoC. This is the first phone launch with this new SoC and performance figures remain to be seen.
And, while going through the Chinese marketing material from Honor’s website, we noticed that the Google Translate may need some work.
