We have two of the 3 Android One devices announced at the Google Android One event today. Apart from carrying exact same specifications, the build and design of Micromax Canvas A1 and Karbonn Sparkle V are very similar in terms of dimensions and use of materials.
Let's take a closer look at the first batch of Android One devices in terms of screen quality, UI and more...
As you can see both phones sport a very similar, both run on Android 4.4.4 and look very similar except for minor unique design elements like the Micromax uses a rounded, slightly chunky rubberized back cover while the Karbonn has clearly defined edges and is a tad slimmer.
Both the phones use the same 4.5-inch 480x854 pixel screen. Colors reproduction and quality is pretty much the same. The device feels good in hands for its price point and there aren't any glaring quality issues or rough finishes to be worried about.
The camera module is located at the same spot, but the back covers use unique elements to differentiate the devices, probably one of the few areas where Micromax and Karbonn could use unique elements to bring in some sort of differentiation
Both use 1700 mAh batteries and offer Dual SIM along with memory expansion slots (micro SD)
RAM: The blessing of stock Android, even with 1GB RAM, you get 687 MB free on boot with no Apps running in the background. For reference, that is the kind of free memory you get with Moto G.
The camera stores images in the memory card as a default location, you will need a memory card to get clicking.
The bottom holds USB port at the right. As stated ealrier, the dimensions are same in terms of width and thickness and we think of them as reasonalby slim and compact.
The headphone jack on top. These phones don't offer any specific Gorilla Glass protection, we'd assume both the devices use the same kind of toughened glass protection as the Nokia Lumia 520/525.
Overall the build and design seems very similar to the Moto E, perhaps very slightly inferior to the Moto E if you consider nano coating on the Moto E for added protection against exposure to water/moisture.
