Graphics cards for every budget

Whether you're willing to spend 7,000 or a few lakhs then we've got you covered. Check out these graphics cards that'll let you amp up the FPS in the latest games.
The prices listed here are indicative and you might not get these cards for the exact same price but if you look around a little bit then you're bound to find one around the mentioned price points.

Rs. 7,000

NVIDIA GT 740

Shaders - 384
TMUs - 32
ROPs - 16

When your onboard graphics chipset or your CPU's IGP is just not cutting it anymore then the least amount you should be willing to spend is around Rs. 7,000 and that'll get you the GT 740. It's a low power consuming budget graphics card that'll give your computer a shot in the arm.

AMD Radeon R7 250

Shaders - 384
TMUs - 24
ROPs - 8

Like the GT 740, the R7 250 is also a pretty decent card to get a little more FPS in your games. It uses no external power and is usually found in a small form factor.

Rs. 10,000

NVIDIA GTX 750Ti

Shaders - 640
TMUs - 40
ROPs - 16

The 10,000 rupee mark is what most gamers in India set aside for getting a graphics card in a mid-range build. NVIDIA's GTX 750Ti is a pretty decent card for that price and is based on their latest Maxwell architecture which is very power efficient and capable of crunching out a good frame rate at medium graphics configuration.

AMD Radeon R7 265

Shaders - 1024
TMUs - 64
ROPs - 32

Another favourite for the Rs, 10,000 segment is the AMD Radeon R7 265. It has a lot more shader units than the GTX 750Ti and is capable of performing way better. A relatively recent release, the R7 265 is a pretty decent budget recommendation.

Rs. 16,000

NVIDIA GTX 960

Shaders - 1024
TMUs - 64
ROPs - 32

With a generous bump in the price segment we arrive at the "sweet spot". NVIDIA GTX 960 is a 60-class graphics card that provides a meagre performance benefit compared to the GTX 760 but the Maxwell architecture that this card is based on does so while giving you a reduced energy bill.

AMD Radeon R9 280

Shaders - 1024
TMUs - 64
ROPs - 32

The AMD Radeon R9 280 may be a rebranded HD 7950 but it's still a viable option given that it has a greater memory bus-width when compared to the GTX 960. Also, with a lot more shaders under the hood, it does better in compute tasks.

NVIDIA GTX 970

Shaders - 1664
TMUs - 104
ROPs - 56

If you wish to game at the maximum possible settings for the next year no matter what game it is, then you need to plunk down a little extra. The GTX 970 is quite a good card for the price but NVIDIA's marketing blunder has given it quite the bad reputation. The one thing you need to remember is that as long as the memory usage is below 3.5 GB, you should be fine. However, if you don't want all that fuss then spending 12,000 extra should get you a GTX 980. Or if you wish to get something within the budget then check out the next card.

AMD Radeon R9 280X

Shaders - 2048
TMUs - 128
ROPs - 32

AMD Radeon R9 280X is essentially a HD 7970 which was the flagship card in the previous generation. So when you're getting a flagship's resources for a lot lesser price then it's a no brainer. Moreover, in the price segment, this card has more memory and is even afforded the memory bandwidth to best use all of it.

NVIDIA GTX TITAN X

Shaders - 3072
TMUs - 192
ROPs - 96

Those with deep pockets can afford these behemoths. We aren't even going to bother mentioning the price here. The TITAN X is the latest in NVIDIA's kitty and was built to give ample FPS in AAA games...at 4K...at max settings...and even switch on 3D if you like without running out of memory. Afterall, it has 12 gigabytes of it.

AMD Radeon R9 295X2

Shaders - 2x2816
TMUs - 2x176
ROPs - 2x64

AMD's dual GPU solution has been out for quite some time and the competition has been finding it difficult to topple it ever since. Moreover, this gigantic card comes with its own liquid cooling solution. It might be quite the power chugger but it costs less and gives more performance than the competition.
