Marking the next step in the evolution of smartphone screens, quad-HD displays have now begun to make their way to the market. Here are five phones you can buy in India with a 2K display.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Price: Rs. 57,680
Screen Size: 5.7-inch
ppi: 515
The latest Galaxy Note from Samsung comes with top of the line specs and a top of the line screen. The 2K AMOLED panel on the Note 4 has great contrast ratios and deep blacks. The colours are quite vivid and the sharpness is excellent. Samsung has proven that they are the best in the business when it comes to AMOLED screens.
Lenovo Z2 Pro
Price: Rs. 32,999
Screen Size: 6-inch
ppi: 490
Lenovo Z2 Pro tries to balance itself between the phablet and smartphone segment. You can manually adjust the brightness, saturation, tone and contrast of the screen.
LG G3
Price: Rs. 39,999
Screen: 5.5-inch
ppi: 534
LG has used a True HD-IPS LCD display on the G3. The phone features an almost bezel-less 5.5-inch display with a high pixel-density of 534 ppi. The viewing angles and the colours of the screen are excellent but the screen is a fingerprint magnet and the phone suffers from legibility issues under direct sunlight.
Nexus 6
Price: Rs. 44,000
Screen Size: 5.96-inch
ppi: 493
Nexus 6, the latest and the greatest from Google this year, comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop. The large 5.96-inch phone does look like an elongated version of the Motorola Moto X (2nd gen) but comes with a bump in specs. The Nexus 6 features a large 5.96-inch AMOLED quad-HD display which has impressive pixel density of 493 ppi. The screen has good brightness and contrast but it oversaturates colours since it is an AMOLED screen.
Oppo Find 7
Price: Rs. 37,990
Screen Size: 5.5
ppi: 534
One of the first phones to bring a quad-HD display to India, the Oppo Find 7 has the disadvantage of being a last gen smartphone. The 2K display is sharp and has good viewing angles but it suffers from saturation issues as well as inaccurate colour reproduction. We observed a purple-tint while viewing a completely white image.
