Micromax announced its first smartphone with Cyanogenmod today under the new YU brand. The handset comes at an affordable price and very promising specs with full Cyanogen support. Here is a first look at the device...
At the back you can see the YU branding and a 13MP camera with a Sony Exmor sensor and special blue-filter to get better tones in your pictures.
Even though it has a 5.5-inch display, Micromax chose to give the Yureka capacitive navigation buttons instead on on-screen ones
The volume rocker is housed on the left and the overall thickness of the device is decent. It is defintely quite large for one hand operation, but it feels quite good in the hand and doesn't feel slippery
Above the display we have the 5MP front camera, the earpiece and a notification LED
The top has the 3.5mm audio jack and as you can see, the display panel sits inside the main shell
Thanks to Cyanongen, you get the CM11 ROM like on the OnePlus One and of course you get options to add CM themes to customize the smartphone UI
The power button sits on the right edge and is quite easy to reach
The back is made of soft plastic although it has a nice matte finish, which the company calls the 'moon-stone' finish
