First look: Dell Latitude 12 and 14 Rugged Extreme laptops
Dell has introduced two new military grade laptops in India, the Latitude 12 and Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme. Both offer very robust design that can withstand drops, water and extreme weather conditions. We had a chance to get a look at both of the laptops at the launch event.
The Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme is a convertible notebook with an 11.6-inch display (1366x768) which can flip just like the XPS 12.
Its ports are protected with strong plastic covers and the whole laptop has a thick armour around it to protect it from dust, water and other extreme conditions.
The laptop can be configured with an Intel processor from a Core i3 up to a Core i7 4th generation processor, from 4GB up to 16GB of RAM and from 128GB up to a 512GB SSD. It also features a full HD webcam with a privacy shutter, an 8MP bottom camera with flash, USB 3.0 ports and a resistive touch-screen
The Dell Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme offers the same amount of ruggedness as the 12..
The laptop can withstand falls from upto 6 feet and has a carry handle.
The various ports and slot are covered by thick plastic flaps to protect the laptop from dust and water
Everything from the keyboard to the display is water resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -30 degrees to 60 degrees Celsius. The Latitude 14 Extreme Rugged laptop can also be configured to the same specs as the 12-inch model and comes with dual serial/RJ-45 ports
