Halo 5
Master Chief will be back this year in October in all his glory but your mission may start with finding him first in the vast galaxy. Microsoft has already revealed some plans regarding the Multiplayer aspect of the game but what tale will the single player campaign tell? We will find out soon enough.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
In April this year, developer Square Enix released a jaw dropping trailer of their upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. However, this trailer left many questions which need some answers. Hopefully Square Enix makes some things clear at E3. We’ve also heard rumors that Square Enix has plans to make Deux Ex into a huge franchise like Assassin's Creed.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
This year’s addition to the familiar series takes you to 1868, in the middle of the Industrial Revolution in Victorian England. New to longtime players will be the focus on two different characters, with the ability to switch freely between them to roam about in this openworld
adventure. Whether that will be enough to re-ignite this franchise is yet to be seen, but if previews are any indication it certainly will help.
Doom
For the older gamers among us, little else needs to be said. Bethesda has taken over this iconic first-person shooter franchise and is aiming to take it back to its roots. Many of the original game’s weapons and enemies will be reappearing and, more importantly, the game play will once again focus on the quick, run-and-gun, twitch shooting that made Doom a classic. While other shooters have taken a stealthy approach, Doom will let you jump in with all guns blazing — the only focus being the outright destruction of countless Hellspawn.
Fallout 4
Also from Bethesda comes Fallout 4. Very little information is known about the latest sequel in this post-apocalyptic open world RPG series, but all rumors suggest it will be previewed this year. Whatever they end up showing off, we expect it will be the highlight of the show for many in attendance.
No Man’s Sky
While others have certainly crafted giant worlds for us to discover and explore, it’s almost impossible that a game’s vision could be grander than this. If you want to explore a mountain in the far-off distance, you can go there; but apparently that’s too easy. See that planet reflecting light in the night sky? Why not board a spacecraft and travel there? In No Man’s Sky, you can. In fact, the entire universe is yours to explore. It’s a bold promise, and if it truly lives up to expectations we could be in for something special.
Star Wars: Battlefront
It is the year of Star Wars, and the gaming side couldn’t be left out. This series is being reborn as a multiplayer exclusive, leaving any notion of single player gaming behind. Hopefully this allows the developers time to focus on ways to maintain interest and keep the gameplay exciting. If you didn’t play the original, imagine getting to be part of a small battalion of Jedi fighting through the ice planet Hoth, with every weapon and vehicle imaginable, and every evil Storm Trooper being played by one of your friends.
Tom Clancy’s The Division
If you’re expecting this to be similar to games like Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon, think again. Ubisoft is taking the brand in a new direction with this open world, multiplayer RPG. Set in New York City after a deadly virus has destroyed much of the population, this game requires a player to explore the world as a member of a secret government organization that failed in attempts to stop the disaster and must now deal with the repercussions.
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
Previously thought to be cancelled, this 2013-announced crossover title for the Nintendo Wii U has recently been revived by Japanese studio Atlus. Combining story elements taken from the highly popular Fire Emblem series as well as the cult-favorite, Shin Megami Tensei series to create a unique RPG game that thoughtfully blends the two universes together. It will include Fire Emblem’s iconic characters and strategic gameplay and be set in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo that players of the Shin Megami Tensei series have come to expect. Despite its rumored 2016 release, not much information has been revealed about the game — making it a perfect contender for Nintendo’s E3 announcement lineup.
Kingdom Hearts III
Teased at 2013’s E3, the long awaited installment to the beloved Kingdom Hearts series is expected to make a follow-up appearance this year. Taking place directly after the events of the Nintendo 3DS’s entry to the series, Kingdom Hearts III will have similar gameplay mechanics and a story that picks up where Dream Drop Distance left off-- following the final events before the main characters reach their final fight against Master Xehanort. As expected from the series, new Disney worlds will be introduced as well as new Final Fantasy characters from previous Square Enix titles.
