After testing the waters with the Note 3 and the Note 3 Lite, Coolpad has finally brought its flagship to India. The Coolpad MAX is priced at Rs. 24,999 and will be available via Amazon by the end of this month. Here is a quick look at this good-looking phone from all angles.
Before we go any further, here is a quick recap of the specifications.
Gone are the capacitive buttons that were there on previous Coolpad phones. Instead, the MAX uses on-screen navigation keys. The UI that you are seeing here is the new Cool UI 8.0, which is layered on top of Android Lollipop v5.1.1.
The MAX features a beautiful 5.5-inch display, which offers great viewing angles and under sunlight, it felt legible enough. Coolpad has kept the display bezels quite minimal, which makes the phone look even better. The phone features a 5MP front facing camera that is located above the display.
The phone features a full metal construction with chamfered edges. In addition, the display has 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 4 on top of it.
The Coolpad MAX has a slim design and is 7.6mm thin. However, the metal construction has added some extra weight to the phone and at 170 grams, it is not that light.
The phone features a 13MP rear camera, which supports PDAF (Phase detection autofocus) and is further aided by a dual-LED flash.
The fingerprint scanner of the phone is located below the rear camera and is recessed to make it easier for users to touch. The aluminum finish of the phone looks and feels quite premium, but is a little slippery.
