The Q10 is the phone that the BlackBerry loyalists have been waiting for. This is for that demographic who love BlackBerry for their QWERTY keyboards! Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
The phone looks very similar to the previous generation Bold devices, and it is good that BlackBerry kept the familiarity aspect well in line. Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
The BB10 UI remains the same as what we saw on the Z10. The only difference being the lesser number of rows! Unlike the OS7, there are no square pegs, round holes tweaks for different screen sizes and types. Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
The display does have a lot going for it. The colours are rich, and text is very readable and crisp. Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
One change that users who upgrade from a previous generation Bold device to the Q10 will feel is the missing cluster of keys below the display. All that has been shifted to the touchscreen, including call connect and call disconnect. Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
The QWERTY keyboard is afforded more space because of the removal of the key cluster. Each individual key is bigger than on the Bold Touch 9900. The edge to edge design also affords more space to make the keys bigger. Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
One change from the older keyboards to this one is the completely straight layout. There is no curve going up at the two edges of the keyboard. This will not really have any impact on the typing experience though. There is literally no spacing between each key, and that does not hamper the user experience. The phone is a tad thick. The right spine has the volume rocker towards the top. Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
The left spine has the micro USB port as well as HDMI out. Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
The carbon weave casing on the back is very light, yet incredibly strong. Each has a unique fingerprint in terms of design. Do also check out our detailed first impressions of the Q10 smartphone.
The camera sits at the top left of the panel, and we quite like the depressed placement. There are many phones that have designs that actually ensure that the phone sits on the camera, which leads them to the risk of scratches and damage.
