Asus launched its new camera centric phone, the Zenfone Zoom, at a grand event in Agra yesterday. Not only does the smartphone pack in a more powerful processor, but it is touted to be one of the best camera phones available today. Here is a quick look of the Asus Zenfone Zoom.
Before we move further, here is a quick run down of its specifications
Display: 5.5-inch, 1080p
SoC: Intel Atom Z3590
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 128GB
Battery: 3000mAh
Camera: 13MP, OIS, 3X optical zoom, 12X digital zoom
The Asus Zenfone Zoom has an aluminum chassis and here are the different stages it undergoes when carved out from a solid block of metal.
Above the display, the phone has its front facing camera positioned on the right. It is a 5MP wide-view camera and offers features like selfie panorama of upto 140 degrees.
Like previous Asus phones, the three navigation keys are laid out below the display. They are not backlit.
The 5.5-inch display offers nice viewing angles and has decent colour saturation. Asus has given the display a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
The sides of the phone are chamfered to give the phone a premium look. The 3.5mm headphone jack is placed on the top and the micro-USB jack is at the bottom of the smartphone.
The right side of the phone looks quite busy. It houses the volume rocker, power button, dedicated camera shutter and a record button as well.
The Asus Zenfone Zoom comes with a leather back, which adds to the premium look and feel of the smartphone.
This is the USP of the smartphone - The 13MP camera sensor uses 10p Hoya lens system with 4 stops of optical image stabilization. The rear camera offers 3X optical zoom and 12x digital zoom.
Like all Asus phones, the Zenfone Zoom also runs on Asus’ ZenUI. It is layered on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
