Asus has launched the X and K series of laptops at Computex, Taiwan. We take a look at the variants of these two models - the X555, X455, K501 and K401. Loaded with a Lithium-polymer battery with 2.5 times the battery lifespan, the X555 and X455 come with options of Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors.
The X series also comes with a free upgrade to Windows 10 from the existing Windows 8/8.1.
The two models comprise of 4GB onboard DDR3 1600MHz RAM with a DIMM socket for exapansion upto 8GB SDRAM.
The X455 boasts a 14-inch screen with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels, whereas the X555 is equipped with a slightly larger 15.6-inch screen and the same resolution.
Both the models come with a NVIDIA GeForce 940M with 2GB DDR3 VRAM!
The Asus X555 comes with an option of a 128GB/256GB SSD apart from the regular 500GB/2TB HDD version. However, the X455 is restricted to HDD, leaving no window for a SSD.
The X555 and X455 are equipped with a super-multi DVD drive, an integrated 802.11 b/g/n Wi-fi and an optional addition of Bluetooth 4.0.
These models come with the incredible Sound-Sonic master technology for a clear and powerful sound experience.
The X555 stretches up to 38.2cms (15.03-in), with a width of 10.07-in and weighs 2.3kgs.
The dimensions of the X455 are 34.8 x 24.28 x 2.56 cm (13.7 x 9.55 x 1 inch) and the model weighs 2.1kgs.
ASUS also launched its N-series notebooks, namely the N551JQ and N552VX both of which come equipped with 4th generation Intel Core Processors running Windows 8.1 (optional upgrade to Windows 10).
Both laptops come equipped with SonicMaster Premium audio. The N551JQ and N552VX feature an HD video camera.
Both laptops consist of anti-glare FHD IPS displays that boast of a 178-degree viewing angle. The N551JQ sports a 17 inch diplay while the N552VX comes with a 15.6 inch display.
Both laptops offer an optional Blu-ray drive and come with all the standard features including 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 support.
Designed to be easy to carry, the all new ASUS Chromebook comes equipped with a Rockchip Quad core processor and 2GB of RAM (expandable upto 4GB) which is more than enough to run Chrome OS, and weighs a meagre 0.3 kgs.
The device features an 11.6 inch HD display, an HD camera and has a battery life of upto 13 hours.
