The review process for the Asus ROG G752VY laptop was taking some time, so we thought we’d give you a quick look at it first. It’s the most powerful gaming laptop that Asus makes right now, but it’s also big and heavy. Take a look at the beast.
The Asus ROG G752VY is a very good looking laptop. It has premium brushed aluminum on top, with LED lights, to make it look like the mean gaming machine it is meant to be. You can see the cooling fans through the bottom, which is something gamers will appreciate.
Here is a quick look at the specifications:
Display: 17.3-inch, 1080p
Processor: Intel Core i7 6700HQ
RAM: 16GB DDR4
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M
Primary Storage: Samsung 512GB NVMe drive
Secondary Storage: 1TB Hitachi
Weight: 4.3Kg
The Asus ROG G752VY has a large 17.3-inch display, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. Our initial tests showed good results, with good viewing angles. Gaming enthusiasts will also love the fact that the display is actually G-Sync enabled, which means there will be no screen tearing while gaming.
Instead of the standard num lock key, the ROG G752VY features a ROG button. Clicking this launches the ROG gaming centre application, which can disable the windows key, or the touchpad, and even overclock the CPU or GPU by 100MHz.
A gaming keyboard is not complete without macro keys and like the last generation G751, this one also features 5 macro keys. Asus has also included a gamecaster button, along with the macro keys, which can be configured to cast the gameplay directly to Twitch, Hitbox, Youtube and more.
The laptop also features a large and responsive touchpad with two physical keys. The touchpad is smooth and supports all windows gestures.
There are two speakers behind the display, mounted on either side of the hinge. They are aided by a subwoofer at the bottom. The sound is quite clear, even at higher volumes, but one may hope for louder volumes.
The Asus ROG G572VY features vapour chamber cooling technology, which Asus claims, does a better job in cooling the CPU and GPU. There are two massive coolers in the laptop, which pump out hot air from the back.
Here are the ports. On the left, there is one kensington lock, two USB 3.0 ports, DVD drive and an SD card slot. On the right, there is a headphone jack, a microphone jack, a S/PDIF jack, USB Type-C 3.1 port, two USB 3.0 ports, mini display port, HDMI port, an ethernet port and the AC adapter plug.
