Apple's new music streaming service was rolled out with the new iOS 8.4 update. As announced earlier the new service will cost Rs. 120 per month for individuals and Rs. 190 per month for family (for upto 6 members). The pricing does seem quite tempting so we checked out the new service on all the devices that it is available on. Here's how it looks.
Apple Music on MacBook
Apple Music on the MacBook is available via iTunes. You have to upgrade to the new version of iTunes. Once you do that, click on the ‘For You’ tab and you're greeted with a subscription page. Note that even though Apple Music will ask for a credit card on all devices, you won't be charged for the first three months. Once you sign up, you can turn off the auto renewal option to ensure you don't get charged after the trial period is over.
Four new tabs have been added to the new iTunes — the ‘For You’ tab is accompanied by the new Radio tab, which has the Beats 1 radio station.
‘Connect’ is basically a collective social page for various artists. You can follow your favourite artists from here.
The main iTunes window however, does look pretty much the same.
Apple iPhone
Here is a look at Apple music on the iPhone. The ‘For You’ tab asks for your favourites to curate music accordingly.
We tried both the curated lists and Beats 1 radio, and from initial impressions we can say, playlist curation and sound quality seem good.
Apple iPad
A similar balloon interface can also be seen on the iPad. You can just tap on the ones you like and the app will curate songs accordingly.
The Connect tab is pretty similar to what we saw on the MacBook earlier.
This is the My Music tab, which shows all the songs you already have in your library.
Apple Music on PC
Apple Music is also available for Windows PC users using iTunes and it looks slightly different than the one on the MacBook.
This is the new tab showing new albums and singles.
In the Connect tab you can follow artists and it will give you latest updates from the artists.
