8 things we don't like about the Samsung Galaxy S8

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is great. It looks good, and more importantly, it looks nothing like any other smartphone. But despite all the songs that have been sung about this phone, it has obvious flaws. Here are some things we really don't like about this smartphone.

8 things we don't like about the Samsung Galaxy S8

Fingerprint Sensor

One has to start with the fingerprint sensor, although it is really a problem on the larger device. We wish Samsung had at least used a ridged or raised design here, but the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S8+ is just too awkward to use.

Bixby

For a feature important enough to have a button dedicated to it, Bixby is really of no use, especially in India. What's an AI assistant that can simply do image searches on Pinterest, or show you news?

Also, we wish Samsung had allowed users to "remap" the Bixby button to some other feature/function.

Too easy to break

There's literally too much glass on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. While it's a beautiful looking phone, that really doesn't matter if you have to cover it up with a bumper case. The first time you drop this phone is most likely the last time you see the screen intact.

Slippery and prone to scratching

Adding to that is the fact that its smooth glass body can be slippery. We could actually make our peace with its fingerprint affinity, but we still wouldn't want the phone to slip out of our hands. It scratches easily too.

Altogether, it just means you can't avoid a case on this phone, and its design is completely undermined.

Face Unlock

We've already mentioned the fingerprint sensor, but the face unlock feature is worse. It's pretty much a gimmick and doesn't really work well post sundown. It is also too slow to be used regularly.

Microsoft Apps and others

Samsun has made its UI almost completely bloatware free. However, we wish it would allow users to remove the Microsoft apps, and some of the others that it still loads.

Battery

Smartphone batteries need to get better and we've seen phones this size that have bigger batteries. Couldn't the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have had bigger batteries?

Red Tint

The red tint on the Galaxy S8+'s display is tough to reproduce on photos. However, our unit of the S8+ did have it, and we'll try to showcase it when the video is shot.
