Digital India can easily be deemed as the most popular term used by Indians in 2015. Post its inception in July, Prime Minister Modi’s Digital India campaign has launched a slew of technology services through apps and other internet services. Although the Digital India dream is still far from realisation, here is a low down of all the apps & services launched under the campaign in 2015.

Digi Locker

Digi Locker is a personal storage space for Indian citizens who have an Aadhaar card. The Digi Locker can be used to securely store digital copies of documents such as pan cards, driver’s license, Aadhaar card, ration card, amongst others. The locker can also store Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) link of e-documents issued by various government departments. An e-sign facility is also provided by Digi Locker and the system can be used to digitally sign e-documents. The Digi Locker facility can be accessed as a website or an app on Google Play Store.

MyGov Mobile App

MyGov is Government of India’s citizen engagement platform for direct citizen participation in policy formulation and implementation. Citizens can also comment and send suggestions to Central Ministries and associated organizations. Users of the app can also participate in Government polls and read blogs related to the latest national developments. The app is available on Google Play Store.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan App

The Swachh Bharat app is aimed at encouraging citizen partnership in a campaign to improve cleanliness in India. Users can create their own challenges based on locations and post their progress on the app. Users can also invite more participants for cleanliness challenges through social media connect options integrated within the app.

e-hospitals

e-hospitals is an integrated Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) which runs in almost 30 major public hospitals across the country, including premier hospitals like AIIMS and RML in Delhi and NIMHANS in Bangalore. Through this system, citizens can register for appointments online, pay hospital fees and view their reports from the comfort of the internet.

National Scholarships Portal

The National Scholarships Portal is a one stop platform for end-to-end scholarship processes, right from submission of student application, verification, sanction and disbursal to end beneficiary, for all the scholarships provided by the Government of India. The portal provides a common application form for all scholarships and a one time registration for students. Based on eligibility criteria, the system itself suggests the schemes for which a student is eligible. The scholarships portal is available on the web and as an app on Google Play Store.

ePathshala

ePathshala, a joint initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India and National Council of Educational Research and Training NCERT. It has been developed for showcasing and disseminating all educational e-resources including textbooks, audio, video, periodicals, and a variety of other print and non-print materials, to parents, students and teachers. The app is available for download on the Google Play Store.

Lastly, the Digital India app is an information centre for all the above mentioned services. Those who do not have the above mentioned apps can first download the Digital india app from Google Play Store. The app provides its users with information on all existing Digital India initiatives, apart from news and updates on upcoming services.
