Great gamers need great mice and here are our picks of the greatest gaming mice that have passed through our test labs.
Razer Ouroboros
The first time you get your hands on this mouse, you know you’ve got something special. This finely crafted beauty is a symphony in black and green, a precisely honed tool that’s designed with only one purpose in mind– to decimate your opponent with the utmost precision. The mouse is ambidextrous and precisely balanced and the presence of adjustable panels ensures a comfortable fit. The 8200 DPI 4g sensor is one of the best we’ve come across so far and this, coupled with the excellent ergonomics make the Ouroboros our tool of choice.
ROCCAT Kone XTD
People with large hands will find their ideal frag companion in this mouse. The mouse literally blew us away with the features it offered and the quintessential gamer will love the bling in the form of the customisable RGB LEDs. Omron key switches, an 8200 dpi laser sensor, programmable buttons and a feature rich control suite ensure that this mouse means business and the adjustable weights are another feather in its cap. An excellent mouse this, if you ever get a chance to get your paws on one, don’t pass up the opportunity.
Logitech G9x
Hark! Could there ever have been a better mouse? The Logitech G9x was one of the earliest mice with multiple grips, variable weights and featured a 5600 dpi sensor. And with build quality like it had you’d never need a mouse for at least a decade.
Logitech MX518
This mouse, this simple mouse was, and still is, considered a legend among all mice. Why you ask? Well for one thing, it was definitely the coolest looking mouse at the time. The unusual texture meant that the body looked like it was dented and the 1600dpi was more than enough for its time (still is). This is also one of the best designed mice to ever come out of Logitech’s design department and no matter how they try to convince us, in our hearts, this will always be one of the all time greats.
Razer Pro v1.6
If Raaabo has been swearing by a mouse for more than five years then you know it’s something special. This unassuming looking mouse is slick, sleek, white death in the right hands. It might only be restricted to 1600dpi, but in the words of Fatal1ty, “I rarely use over 800dpi”, so you can rest assured that you’re not losing out. The mouse is unfortunately not available anymore, but if you do get your hands on one, hang on to it. The mouse is ergonomic, never flinches, and hasn’t dropped a click in so many years. This really is one of the true classics.
Roccat Kone Pure
After having used the NZXT Avatar S for years, when it finally gave way, our intrepid little staticsid when in search for the perfect mouse for his tiny little hands. Nah we kid the static. In reality the Kone Pure brings all the goodness of the XTD into proportions meant to be used by regular sized people unlike the giants it's bigger variant was probably intended for. In terms of durability it has stood the test of time and many a Quake induced rage fit. The 8200dpi Pro-Aim R3 laser sensor delivers some insane precision. Plus the combination of it's size and the kind of feet it uses, the mouse just flies.
