With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, 2015’s Sci-Fi movie marathon has come to an end. But wait, there’s more. Your life can’t be over just yet! Batman vs Superman, Star Trek Beyond, Ghostbusters and Assassin’s Creed are just some of the movies set to hit theatres in 2016. There are a lot of good Sci-Fi movies to look out for in 2016 and this is the list that will prepare you for the coming year.
Star Trek Beyond

In this new Star Trek film Spock, Uhura, Scotty, Bones and Captain Kirk are back for yet another adventure. No ship, no crew and left in the middle of battle this band of space travellers have to save the day.
Rogue One: A star wars story

Rogue One is the first film in the Star Wars Anthology series. The Anthology series is a collection of stand-alone stories set in the Star Wars universe. The story is set in between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, bridging the gap between the events of the two movies.
Independence Day: Resurgence

Will Smith isn’t a part of the new movie and speculations making the rounds on the Internet highlight why this is the case. Nonetheless, from what we’ve seen, the movie is nothing short of a spectacular space dogfight. The aliens are back to destroy the Earth and this time they pack in quite a punch. Does Earth have the resources to withstand another attack?
Assassins Creed

Michael Fassbender AKA Magneto will put on the Assassin's hood in this adaptation of the game. The move follows the adventure of an Assassin in 15th century Spain, and his present day descendant, Callum Lynch, just like we’ve seen in the games.

Four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks have destroyed most of Earth. The movie follows the story of Cassie who is trying to save her younger brother from the 5th wave of attack.
Ratchet and Clank

A movie based on one of the best video games, this sci-fi adventure sheds light on the beginning of the friendship between Ratchet, a lone Lombax and Clank his trusty mechanical sidekick.
Deadpool

Celebrate Valentines Day with the guy dressed in red with an awesome sense of humour. We are of course talking about Deadpool. The name says it all.

A sci-fi film about four astronauts who are sent on a simulated mission to a distant planet to test the psychological effects of deep space travel. This may not be Interstellar but deep space Sci-Fi stories are usually very interesting.
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

Who doesn’t want to see Batman, the caped crusader, being unmasked by the Man of Steel? The trailers of Dawn of Justice may have revealed a lot of information about the movie, but we think there is a lot to look forward to, including Wonder Woman!
X-Men Apocalypse

X-men Apocalypse was in the news recently for offending certain religious sentiments through the trailer, but fans of the franchise won't care about that. This is the movie where we see the greatest X-Men villain in action. Add to that James McAvoy (who plays Professor X) sports the bald look and we are really excited to see the direction the movie takes.
Ghostbusters

The tables have turned this time around and the movie will feature four women as the lead Ghostbusters instead of four men.
Sly Cooper

A movie based on one of the best PS2 games, Sly Cooper the movie; will follow the lead protagonist, Sly, on a fun filled thieving adventure with his childhood buddies Bentley (the brains of the operation) and Murray (the muscle). Little is known about the story and that’s the way we like it.
Underworld: The Next Generation

Passengers

Passengers is a Sci-Fi movie with some romance thrown into the mix. A spacecraft traveling to a distant planet is transporting thousands of people. One chamber malfunctions and a “passenger” wakes up 60 years ahead of schedule. The plot twists will kick in when he decides to wake up another passenger to fill the void of loneliness.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
