The Infinix GT 20 Pro is a mid-range smartphone designed for gamers, featuring a cool design with a customisable RGB lighting strip. The Infinix GT 20 Pro offers a blend of unique features tailored for gaming enthusiasts at an accessible price point. With its sleek design, boasting a futuristic aesthetic, the GT 20 Pro sets itself apart visually. But does its performance match its aesthetics?

Infinix GT 20 Pro: Build & Design

Infinix GT 20 Pro

The Infinix GT 20 Pro gives a sense of a premium phone with its sleek and modern design. The phone’s back feels smooth and sophisticated. However, it catches fingerprints easily without the case.

This gaming-focused smartphone comes in three colours: Mecha Blue, Mecha Orange, and Mecha Silver.

I had the opportunity to review the Mecha Blue variant. This shade is not overly bright, but rather a muted, elegant blue, giving it a dynamic and refined appearance.

The camera module on the back houses three rear cameras and an LED flash, arranged in a minimalist design that adds to the phone’s sleek profile.

One standout feature is the RGB lighting strip on the back, which adds a gaming-centric touch. This customisable light strip can be programmed to notify you of incoming calls and other alerts, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. The camera module is slightly raised, but it integrates smoothly with the overall design, avoiding any cumbersome protrusion.

Infinix GT 20 Pro

Overall, the Infinix GT 20 Pro is a stylish device with an aesthetic look, making it an appealing choice for both gamers and general users.

Infinix GT 20 Pro: Display

The Infinix GT 20 Pro features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, delivering a visually immersive experience that is perfect for gaming and content consumption. One of the standout features of this display is its brightness. Even in direct sunlight, the screen remains exceptionally bright, ensuring you can comfortably use your phone outdoors without straining your eyes.

I tested the brightness using the Lux Meter on the Infinix GT 20 Pro’s display and the smartphone showcased 1,900 nits of peak luminance under direct sunlight, which is really impressive.

Infinix GT 20 Pro

The GT 20 Pro also boasts a 144Hz refresh rate, which enhances the fluidity of browsing, gaming, and overall navigation. This high refresh rate makes scrolling through social media, playing fast-paced games, and even simple tasks like opening apps feel incredibly smooth and responsive.

You also get support for HDR, and from what I have seen on YouTube, the phone is great for watching your favourite movies or series.

Infinix GT 20 Pro: Performance

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset. There is also a dedicated display chip.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro comes in two configuration options: 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. While the 256GB storage is ample and should meet the needs of most users, it’s important to note that the GT 20 Pro lacks a microSD card slot, so the internal storage is all you get.

Infinix GT 20 Pro

In my day-to-day usage, the Infinix GT 20 Pro maintained consistent performance. Throughout my time with the smartphone, I never encountered any slowdowns or lag. Whether it was multitasking with multiple apps or swiftly switching between them, the GT 20 Pro proved to be a reliable companion.

Gaming on this device was particularly enjoyable. The games were not lagging even during long sessions. However, during extended gaming sessions, I did notice the device getting warm.

While my personal experience offers valuable insights into the smartphone’s performance, objective benchmarks provide a clearer picture of where the GT 20 Pro stands. I ran several benchmarks on the Infinix GT 20 Pro phone, which I’ll discuss next.

On AnTuTu, the Infinix GT 20 Pro scored 943606 points, outpacing competitors like the OnePlus Nord CE4 and Nothing Phone (2a).

Infinix GT 20 Pro

On Geekbench, the Infinix GT 20 Pro achieved 1000 points in the single-core test and 3424 points in the multi-core test. These scores position it competitively within its price range.

Infinix GT 20 Pro

For the review, I also received a gaming kit with the Infinix GT 20 Pro, which includes a GT Cooling Fan, Mecha Case, and Finger Gloves. The GT Cooling Fan looks impressive and feels very cool to the touch. I played BGMI for two sessions of 45 minutes each—first with the cooling fan and then without it– to test the GT Cooling Fan. To my surprise, the GT Cooling Fan made the back of the phone cool for my fingers, but it didn’t substantially reduce the CPU temperature. In short, while it enhances comfort during extended gaming, it doesn’t prevent the CPU from heating up.

Infinix GT 20 Pro: Camera

Now, let’s dive into the camera system on the Infinix GT 20 Pro. First, let’s talk about the rear-camera setup. On the back, there is a triple-camera setup, but unlike most phones these days, there’s no ultra-wide lens. You get a 108MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor.

The primary 108MP camera captures detailed photos in good lighting conditions. However, it’s worth noting that the absence of an ultra-wide lens might be a downside for some users.

On the front, the GT 20 Pro features a 32MP camera. This camera is capable of taking detailed selfies with natural colours and accurate skin tones. I must say that I am impressed with the GT 20 Pro’s front camera.

Is it a good camera phone? It’s a capable shooter for everyday use, especially considering the phone’s focus on gaming.

Infinix GT 20 Pro: Battery & Charging

The Infinix GT 20 Pro packs a 5000mAh battery complemented by 45W charging support. During my testing, I found that the phone took approximately 65 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%, which is quite efficient for users.

The battery performance under various usage scenarios also proved to be reliable. For instance, after playing Call of Duty: Mobile for 15 minutes, the battery only saw a minimal 4% drain, showcasing the device’s ability to handle intensive gaming sessions without significant power loss. Additionally, using Google Maps for an hour resulted in a mere 7% decrease in battery.

Infinix GT 20 Pro: Verdict

The Infinix GT 20 Pro emerges as a compelling option for budget-conscious gamers seeking a feature-rich smartphone. Its design is sleek and futuristic, highlighted by a customisable RGB lighting strip on the back, catering to the tastes of gamers. The device’s 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate ensures an immersive visual experience, perfect for gaming and content consumption. Performance-wise, the phone offers smooth multitasking and gaming without lag.

However, the GT 20 Pro isn’t without its shortcomings. The lack of a microSD card slot for storage expansion might be a dealbreaker for some users. The triple-camera system, while capable of delivering good photos in well-lit conditions, lacks an ultra-wide lens, which is a notable omission for photography enthusiasts.

In conclusion, the Infinix GT 20 Pro strikes a commendable balance between aesthetics, performance and affordability. Its stylish design and smooth gaming performance make it an appealing choice for both gamers and general users.
