InFocus' mega event earlier today saw them launch four smartphones, seven LED televisions, three feature phones and a 2-in-1 tablet, to be sold September onwards

InFocus launched a line of products today, under the outlining theme of naked eye 3D display technology. The InFocus lineup in India saw the addition of four new smartphones, seven new television, three feature phones and a 2-in-1 tablet, all of which will begin sales from around September. Initially, InFocus has stated that the products will be rolled out via Snapdeal and Amazon, its online partners. However, it has also vowed that it will soon be bringing its products to offline retail stores, and is working on a business model to catalyse distribution chains.

Of the entire host of products released, the most notable is the InFocus M550-3D smartphone. What sets this device apart from other phones is its 3D-rendering 5.5” IPS LCD display at a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. What more, you do not need goggles to view 3D content. During the short time we spent with the device, the 3D stills and movie clips looked nice and convincing. The 3D view, however, has a narrow viewing angle, and tilting your head about 40 degrees away from the perpendicular viewing line will switch the view back to 3D. The passive 3D display, however, is a nice initiative by InFocus to differentiate itself from the increasing number of companies in the Indian smartphone industry.

The M550-3D packs in a MediaTek MT6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, along with 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory, 13MP BSI sensor primary camera and a dual-lens IR-assisted wide angle front camera setup, which enhances 3D-self portraits. The 3D camera feature, however, was a little slow and did not seem too convincing, although we would love to spend more time with it, before passing a judgement. It runs Android v4.4 (KitKat), with a upgradeable to Android v5 (Lollipop), and is powered by a 3100mAh battery. It will be priced at Rs. 15,999.

The 2.5GHz Snapdragon quad-core-powered InFocus M812 packs in a 5.5” FHD display, with 3GB of RAM, 16GB storage, aluminium unibody design and a 13MP/8MP camera combination for Rs. 19,999. At lower prices, InFocus M808 is powered by a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core 1.3GHz processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, a 13MP/5MP camera combination and a 5.2” FHD display for Rs. 12,999. The Rs. 5,999-priced M370 features a textured back, with a 5” HD display, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.1GHz quad-core processor.

The range of LED televisions by InFocus features two Ultra HD models (sized 50” and 60”), three Full HD models (sized 40”, 50” and 60”) and two more HD-panel models, sized at 24” and 32”. InFocus hasn’t indicated at a possible pricing scheme yet, and stated that it is targeting the late-September festive season in India as a possible time to launch the TVs in the market.

Additionally, InFocus has added that it is targeting a growth of revenue to $1 billion by 2016. It is also planning to initiate completely local manufacture and assembly of products in India as part of its Make in India initiative, along with manufacturers Foxconn.
