Sadly, for the first time ever, Apple did not update its iPads. Yes, you heard that right. Many reasons have been given behind the delays such as production delays and even scheduling. But we hear that the tech giant will make up for it by updating the entire lineup in 2024. Let’s find out more.

Ming-Chi Kuo, who is a known Apple analyst, said that Apple will for sure make up for this delay and no new updates by refreshing the entire lineup.

Apple iPad expected specifications

This could include new tables for the Apple iPad Air range. Speaking of the iPad Air range, we could get a new and bigger 12.9-inch tablet under the series.

Ming-Chi Kuo further revealed that the iPad Pro could get an upgrade to the OLED screens. On the other hand, we’ll see another generation of the cheapest iPad lineup along with new updates on the iPad mini.

Apple iPad 2024 launch timeline

Now, when will we get to see these upgrades? The iPad Air is expected to get the upgrade first, likely by the first quarter of 2024. The changes that we’re likely to see are, as I mentioned previously, a new 12.9-inch model and updates to the existing 10.9-inch model. We could see chip upgrades too along with a possible change with the new oxide backpanel.

Further, the iPad Pro can see a new generation launch in the second quarter of the year. With the iPad Pro, we could see a lot of changes like a redesigned chassis, M3 chipset, and OLED display.

And only in the second half of 2024, could Apple upgrade the cheaper models. The iPad mini and the iPad 11 are expected to get a refresh with newer versions. Further, the iPad 9 will likely get discontinued too.

However, Ming-Chi Kuo warns that despite updates to the entire lineup of iPads next year, he’s not quite sure if the sales will go up too. This year’s estimated iPad sales are around 50 million units. Kuo expects that this will rise just a little bit to around 52-54 million units being sold. Despite a slight increase, the numbers are far behind that of 2022, when the pandemic peaked and Apple sold 63 million iPad units.
