Xiaomi Mi Band 2 with 0.42-inch OLED display launched in China
The Mi Band 2 is the first smartband from the company to have a display
Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Band 2 in China today. The band features a 0.42-inch OLED display that can show time, heart rate readings and the number of steps taken. The band can also measure sleep duration, and there’s a new ADI accelerometer powering an upgraded pedometer algorithm which make tracking more accurate. It’s powered by a 70mAh battery that the company claims will last up to 20 days on a single charge. It can also unlock your Xiaomi phone without the use of passwords, when the band is in range.
The Mi Band 2 can also monitor and alert users if they are sitting for a long time, a technology that is similar to the Apple Watch, Huawei TalkBand and other smart wearables. Like the previous version, the Mi Band 2 is IP67 certified-water resistant. The device also has a 0.05mm anodized button that allows users to switch between a number of modes and settings.
The Mi Band 2 will be available in China from June 7, and cost RMB 149 (approx. $23) in four colour variants – Black, Blue, Orange and Green. No announcement has been made for an India launch.
