HIGHLIGHTS

Wearable technology that monitors your health

Azoi Inc, a US based technology company launched Wello – a mobile health tracker that is embedded within a mobile case, globally today. The device is basically an insert which goes into compatible mobile phone cases. It interacts with an app via Bluetooth so there are no physical connections with the mobile.

The compatible app is available for IOS as well as Android. There are two cavities on the rear of the mobile case through which the sensors obtain the users vital statistics. Currently the device measures key vitals including heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, electrocardiography (ECG) and blood oxygenation. The product is up for pre-order online on their website. The final product will include extra functionality to measure lung functions and more

The app itself will include the ability to host multiple profiles so one device can keep track of the sensor records for multiple individuals. The device is not meant to be a replacement for proper medical equipment and the folks behind the technology re-iterate the same. Rather the app is going to compare your stats with global average statistics and let you know on which side of the fence you lie.

Another feature is that of remote access which allows the user to keep track of their loved ones.
Wello takes about 30 seconds to complete an entire round of readings. Subsequently, that is compared with your previous stats to give the user a broader picture.

Pricing and Availability
Wello is available for pre-order online on Azoi’s website in India for Rs. 12,350 and shipment starts in summer 2014.

At the launch event, we had a chance to interact with the device. More specifically, it was embedded in a case built for the iPhone. It was an R&D piece and had a few things that needed to be worked out. The sleeve was fairly thin and had the ECG leads on the side with the remaining sensors on the back. The app interface seemed fairly minimalistic with five sensor reading being projected on the screen after about 30 seconds into operation.
