The upcoming Samsung Gear S3 might be more targeted towards outdoor sports enthusiasts. According to a report by SamMobile, the upcoming wearable device might sport a number of sensors such as an altimeter, barometer, speedometer, as well as an integrated GPS.

As per the report, the Gear S3’s altimeter will continually measure altitude and display it in meter or mile on the display. It will also display an altitude graph. The barometer will measure atmospheric pressure and will help predict the weather. These readings will then be displayed on the device. Further, sudden weather change warnings will be turned on by default and will alert users if there is a pressure drop of 4hPa in a period of three hours. The barometer also helps determine the altitude. The speedometer will calculate current speed, average speed, track distance and total time of activity. The report also notes that the integrated GPS is crucial for the speedometer as the sensor will not be able to work if location services aren’t enabled on the phone or the smartwatch.

In a separate report, SamMobile had claimed that Samsung would launch the wearable at IFA 2016, which is scheduled to start from September 2. Further, it was noted that the device would carry forward the rotating bezel that was utilized in the Samsung Gear S2.
