Samsung Health users will likely be able to connect the Galaxy Watch with the Galaxy Ring for more accurate fitness tracking.

Samsung made a surprising reveal of its first smart ring during the unveiling of the Galaxy S24 series last month. Following the detailed unveiling of the Galaxy S24 series and its AI features, the company confirmed the upcoming release of a new health wearable, the Galaxy Ring. However, Samsung didn’t reveal anything about the Galaxy Ring’s specifications or release date, providing only a brief glimpse of its design. Now, a Samsung executive has revealed the launch timeline of the Galaxy Ring.

The Global head of B2B Wearable/IoT/Accessory at Samsung Electronics, Daniel Seung, recently revealed on LinkedIn that Samsung will introduce a “new health & wellness wearable product in the 2nd half” of this year.

While Samsung has yet to announce the date for the next Unpacked event in 2024, it typically falls within the July to September timeframe.

There is speculation that Samsung Health users will likely be able to connect the Galaxy Watch with the Galaxy Ring for more accurate fitness tracking. However, the specific new features Samsung has in store for future Galaxy Ring wearers remain uncertain at this time.

Last year, Samsung announced that it was working on an AR/VR headset in partnership with Google and Qualcomm. The Galaxy Ring could be used as a controller to detect hand gestures for the XR headset. The company also apparently filed a patent for the same.

Also, a Reddit user discovered that the Samsung Health beta app includes a “Feature List” mentioning “Ring Support.” This indicates that Samsung might want to add support for smart rings made by other companies. Or the company might be planning to do both, release the Galaxy Ring and bring support for third-party rings on the Health platform.
