Mobvoi, the Chinese wearable brand is rumoured to skip Gen 4 and launch TicWatch Pro 5 instead. A TicWatch Pro 5 render has leaked online (courtesy of Kuba Wojciechowski) revealing the round dial design along with key TicWatch Pro 5 specs like WearOS 3 and Snapdragon W5+ processor.
First things first, if you are wondering, why no TicWatch Pro 4, it probably has to do with cultural beliefs in China which consider the number 4 unlucky (Tetraphobia).
On to the watch, the tipster calls the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 – “one of the first watches to ship with Snapdragon W5(+) and Wear OS 3”.
With Snapdragon W5+, Qualcomm promises improved battery life and performance. The latter includes 3D effects within maps and emoji avatars.
Also, thanks to the smaller footprint of the chip, the watch in question could also be thinner and more compact.
When the chip debuted Qualcomm announced Mobvoi to be one of the early adopters and that seems more likely to come true, before long.
As for WearOS 3, we expect it to introduce UI changes, and new tasks witcher, along with some speed and power efficiency.
All these seem to come packed in a circular dial with a textured finish on the rim. The render shows decent lip protection to the display. We should be getting more details about the watch ahead of the launch, whenever that is. We will keep you posted.
