The second generation Microsoft Band is expected to be unveiled at Microsoft's event on October 6, alongside the Lumia 950 and 950XL.

Images have leaked online showcasing what the second generation Microsoft band may look like. The leaked images shows that the band has a curved screen along with a metallic body. Microsoft is rumoured to officially unveil the second-generation band at an event scheduled for October 6.

The leaks come from the website http://www.microsoftinsider.es. The Microsoft Band 2 is expected to be equipped with a bunch of new sensors and features. It is expected to house GPS, a microphone (probably to shout commands to Cortana), an ambient light sensor, a UV sensor, accelerometer and galvanic skin response sensors. Judging by the number of sensors included in the band it sounds like Microsoft wants the device to not only be a fitness tracker but a smatwatch and health-monitoring device as well. The device is also expected to house two buttons.

Since every company is targeting IoT, we think Microsoft wants the Band 2 to be the center of the Microsoft IoT universe. Just like Samsung showcased the ability to call your car from the garage to the driveway with the Gear Smartwatch, we think Microsoft will demo the ability to control a lot of everyday functions through the Microsoft Band 2. The device will also be an integral part of Windows 10.

It is also rumoured that Microsoft is all set to take on the iPad Pro with the announcement of the Surface Pro 4. Other rumours also hint at Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL smartphones. Both the devices are expected to showcase the potential of Windows 10 on a smartphone.

Microsoft will no doubt take a few jabs at the recent Apple event where the Cupertino giants announced the launch of the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and the iPad Pro along with the new Apple TV. With the features of the iPad Pro comparable to the Surface Pro 3, it is expected that Microsoft will mock Apples new giant tablet.
