The Vision Pro, despite its impressive technology and sleek design, faces significant challenges. Priced at $3,500, it’s a tough sell for most consumers, especially when Meta’s Quest 3S headset starts at just $299. While the Vision Pro offers a fantastic immersive experience, turning any room into a virtual movie theatre, it lacks compelling reasons for consumers to choose it over other devices like computers or gaming consoles. The absence of a robust third-party app ecosystem and the discomfort of prolonged wear further complicates its appeal.

Meta’s recent advancements, particularly the Orion AR glasses prototype, highlight the gap between the two companies. This design aims to enhance users’ awareness of their surroundings by providing real-time information about the outside world.

The ultimate goal for Apple could be standalone AR glasses that combine advanced technology in a lightweight design. However, this ambitious vision remains a work in progress, and the company must accelerate its efforts to remain competitive.
