Samsung has teased its next smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S2, at the Galaxy Unpacked Event. There are no details regarding the specs and features except that it will be Samsung’s first Android smartwatch with a round face. Samsung showed a teaser video of the Samsung Gear S2 that showed the smartwatch and also that it will be revealed at the IFA event on September 3 in Berlin.
The smartwatch will be a successor to Samsung Gear S. Although, it is expected to come with Samsung’s own OS, Tizen instead of the Android Wear. Samsung has been using Tizen for quite a long time and Samsung Z1 was their first Tizen based smartphone in India, which sold more than 1 million units. Samsung has later said that they want to make more Tizen phones for India.
As of now, there are no confirmed specs for the Samsung Gear S2, but we have had our fair share of rumors. Going by the rumors, the smartwatch is expected to have a 1.56-inch 360 x 360p Super AMOLED screen, 1.2GHz Exynos 3472 processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 250mAh battery, with 3G and calling support. Do keep in mind that all these are just rumored specs and the actual specs may differ when the phone is finally revealed on September 3.
In addition to the Gear S2, Samsung also launched the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and an optional keyboard cover for the phones.
