Integrates lifestyle management into its services; offers doctors and diagnostics on platform

GOQii, the virtual fitness platform, today launched the second iteration of its fitness tracker as well as major upgrades to its fitness ecosystem. This upgrade comes with a host of new features such as Health Risk assessment and Health locker, that aim to reduce the fragmentation in the general health ecosystem.

In 2014 GOQii brought coaches onto their platform, who worked with the user data generated there to provide fitness tips and advice to the user regularly. On those lines, GOQii has gone further ahead and integrated doctors into the platform, who are trained in general medicine as well as lifestyle issues. With preventive health and medicine being the primary focus, doctors on the platform will work closely with the coaches to keep the user’s lifestyle and health on track. The interaction with the doctors on the app can be carried out via the integrated chat service as well as a voice call.

On the hardware size, the device has a number of interesting features, like :

  • A new and improved hardware with a sleeker design with an enhanced OLED display for a richer consumer interface
  • The new device also comes with an integrated charger, which can be plugged into any standard USB port, removing the discomfort to carry an extra charger for your device.
  • Besides the ease of charging, the new GOQii band comes with a bigger battery to provide a minimum of 2-week battery life on a single charge.
  • Auto sleep detection feature, consumers no longer need to manually toggle between sleep and active modes.
  • Third Party App Integration, users will get Call, SMS, Email and WhatsApp notifications on their GOQii band along with the alarm and inactivity alerts.

The new platform was launched by Vishal Gondal, CEO and Founder, GOQii. Speaking about these developments, he said “Technology is transforming health care at an incredible pace and resulting in dynamic outcomes for the industry. Today we’re announcing the integration of doctors and diagnostics on our platform with the intention to offer preventive healthcare solutions to our users. This truly revolutionary integration of coaches, diagnostics, and medical practitioners will provide users an entire spectrum of real-time lifestyle and healthcare services on one single platform.”

GOQii has also incorporated a few exciting collaborations into its services. Starting off with Axis Bank, GOQii fitness tracker now supports contactless payments for Axis Bank customers. Any existing Axis Bank customer can approach the bank to fill in some details and pay a nominal fee to the band, which will contain a dedicated debit card chip that works with the NFC module. As of now, such payments are limited to Rs. 2000/- per transaction and five transactions per day.

You also get rewarded for your workout, with Axis Bank e-rewards programme that assimilates points while you exercise and later allows you to encash them. They have also integrated with Max Healthcare and Thyrocare to bring reports and reputed doctors as well as assistance on to the platform.

The device is sold along with the subscription plans for the software ecosystem. The subscriptions are:

  • Rs.1999/- for 3 months
  • Rs.2999/- for 6 months
  • Rs.3999/- for 12 months

According to Mr. Vishal, even if you already own a different fitness tracker, you can use it with the GOQii app. The open API has also facilitated the acceptance of workout data from multiple fitness apps like Google Fit, Apple Health used by enthusiasts.
