Google may soon have you wearing your headphones on your face
Google's Project Aura is reportedly working on 2-3 new wearables and one of them may not even include a glass
Google is gearing up for the wearables race with a whole new range of devices being worked upon, under Project Aura. Reports from The Informant suggest that the company might have 2 or perhaps 3 new wearables in the pipeline. Although these reports are still unconfirmed, word has it that this time Google is also thinking of expanding its wearable portfolio to enterprise users.
Post its unsuccessful attempt with the Google Glass, the company is apparently working to delvelop one glass-less consumer grade headset, which is targetted at "sports" users and relies on music as its key functionality. This mysterious headset is touted to rely on the same bone conduction technology that was used in the Google Glass. Another wearable headset from Google is also rumoured to be in the works. This second headset may be targetted at enterprise grade consumers and according to reports, it may sport a glass.
In September this year, Google had renamed the Google Glass project to Project Aura. The company has also hired a bunch of consumer electronics experts from Amazon’s Lab126. Earlier reports had also suggested that Google was looking for a complete revamp of the glass project. Google Glass also earned some minus points when users found out that it gives wearers the ability to record anything and anyone without their knowledge. It was even banned at various places like cinemas, casinos, restaurants, etc. Interestingly, it was also banned in one of Google’s shareholder meetings. The company ultimately stopped selling the $1500 (approx Rs. 99, 231) device to the general public earlier this year.
