Fossil has announced their newest Wear OS smartwatch series. The new model comes with key upgrades including twice the onboard storage from the previous model, a built-in speaker, and more. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform. The Gen 5 is available in two body styles of the same size with a variety of watch band options for $295 (approx Rs 20,900).

The Fossil Gen 5 Wear OS features a circular design, and is available in a 44mm case size. The smartwatch is available in a variety of different finishes and watch straps. It is available in  Rose Gold, Rose Gold/Black, and Rose Gold Blush.

Coming to the upgrades, the Gen 5 comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage, instead of the 4GB storage found on the Gen 4. It features a built-in speaker to enable you to hear incoming alerts and even answer calls straight from the watch.

Moreover, the Fossil Gen 5 comes with custom battery modes, which is the first on any Fossil smartwatch. There are four different modes to choose from: Daily, Custom, Extended, and Time-Only. Extended mode disables certain features like NFC, Location, Wi-Fi, and more to extend the battery life to “multiple days.” The company promises up to 36 hours of battery life and up to a week of standby time in clock mode.

The Fossil Gen 5 includes an accelerometer, altimeter, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, heart rate, NFC, and GPS. Additionally, the watch is swim proof for up to 30 metres.

The Fossil Gen 5 is available for pre-order in the US and EMEA regions. It will go on sale on August 26. However, the official website simply states that the Gen 5 will be “coming soon” to APAC regions. There is no word on an Indian release date as of now.
