The previously announced Fitbit Versa smartwatch is now available for purchase in India at a price of Rs 19,999. The company says that the Versa is their lightest smartwatch yet, which offers more than four days of health tracking on a single charge. The device features a colour touchscreen with a brightness of 1000 nits and comes with a variety of clock faces to choose from. The device can be purchased from May 13, 2018, online via Amazon India and offline from Reliance Digital, Croma, Helios and other retailers. The health-centric smartwatch comes in black, Grey and Peach colour models paired with a black aluminium case, silver aluminium case, and a rose gold aluminium case respectively. There is also a Fitbit Versa Special Edition smartwatch, which costs Rs 21,999 and accessories for the smartwatch range from Rs 2,499 to Rs 8,999. The company says that in Q2 2018, it will launch its first activity tracker for kids called the Fitbit Ace.
One unique feature of the Fitbit Versa is health tracking targeted at female users. They can log their menstrual cycles via the Fitbit app and record symptoms such as acne, headaches, and cramps. It is said to offers dynamic cycle predictions for where the user is in her cycles and when she can expect her period, using Fitbit's proprietary cycle algorithm which is said to improve over time. It will also give information about the ovulation, fertility, menstrual cycle, and common misconceptions, along with educational content on the Fitbit blog through the Fitbit app.
The Fitbit Versa connects to the Fitbit app where a user can see detailed insights regarding their health. It supports on-device workouts with Fitbit Coach, which requires a subscription to use, heart rate tracking, more than 15 exercise modes including automatic SmartTrack swim tracking with water resistance up to 50 meters, and automatic sleep stages tracking. One can also make use of quick replies on Android, wallet-free payments and on-device music, along with a relative SpO2 sensor, which may allow Fitbit to add health trackers to monitor disorders such as sleep apnea. The smartwatch is powered by Fitbit OS 2.0, which offers stats at a glance and the company says that it will get more personalised over time.
“We’re thrilled for consumers around the world to experience Versa, a beautifully designed smartwatch for all with advanced health and fitness features, access to our large global social network and smart features people find most useful at an approachable price,” said James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit. “We believe Versa is a smartwatch that will have mass appeal, attracting new audiences and helping us capture a previously untapped segment of users in this growing wearables category.”
Fitbit says that female health tracking will be available on the Fitbit Iconic, as well as to all Fitbit app users starting May 2018.
