The recently announced Yu Fit smartband is finally ready for consumers. Micromax-owned Yu Televentures today announced that the device will go on sale from July 29, exclusively on Amazon. The device will be sold at Rs. 999 and Yu will follow a flash sale model, registrations for which will begin from July 21, up till July 27.
The Yu Fit smartband competes directly with the Xiaomi Mi Band, but comes with added features. Yu Televentures has partnered with Indian health app HealthifyMe to bring the app's features into its ecoystem. With the Yu Fit, users can gain access to HealthifyMe's fitness trainers and use the data from the Yu Fit band to work out a fitness plan. The company has subscription plans starting from Rs. 200 and going up to Rs. 1,000 for its services. The HealthifyMe app also brings a database of Indian food products, making it easier for users to log data.
The Yu Fit also has a display, which allows you to check data directly on the band. There's also a SOS function that allows users to send distress messages to a selected contact.
While the Yu Fit does seem to bring a definite value proposition, after initial few hours of usage, it seems like a device that still needs work. The steps tracking doesn't seem as accurate as needed, while the SOS function is being triggered too easily. We're currently working with the band and will inform you if these initial issues continue.
