Finally! A shoe that ties itself: Nike HyperAdapt 1.0
Nike has announced the HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers that can tie their own laces and have a smart sensor housed in the heel.
That day, when a shoe can tie itself and you don’t have to bend down to complete this daily mundane activity, has finally arrived! Nike has unveiled the the HyperAdapt 1.0, a sports shoe that can tie its own laces. The nike HyperAdapt 1.0 was announced at the Nike Innovation Summit held in New York.
The shoe features what Nike calls “adaptive lacing technology,” at the back of which the company plans to come up with a whole new range of self-lacing sneakers. The HyperAdapt 1.0 shoes will automatically tighten once a user slips them on. This is made possible by a sensor that sits in the heel of the shoe. The sensor senses that a foot has been placed inside the shoe, triggering the self-lacing feature.
The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 shoes will be available for purchase by holiday season 2016. With three colour variants, Nike says that the shoes will only be available to Nike+ members. No pricing details have surfaced yet. You can watch the Nike HyperAdapt in action below.
